Meet Brent
It is difficult to profile myself, simply because I am still a work in progress. I came to believe in Christ as a result of a tragic event in my life at age thirty-one. I suffered a critical gunshot wound to the head in a law enforcement career. My role as a police officer was halted, but the miraculous healing launched me into a new Christian life and a second career working in faith-based service.
I served with SIL International in Indonesia as a Community Development Consultant. Working with an Indonesian foundation, I helped to establish a school for the purpose of preparing Papuans to successfully transition to western institutions that would enable them to become change agents for their communities. Years later, I returned to the US and assumed a role as International Consultant/Trainer in personal security and crisis management for organizations engaged in work abroad.
I was a professor at Omega Graduate School and Pacific Islands University. I taught courses on worldview concepts and community development topics. Over the years I have been involved in writing and publishing academic works in social science research and a textbook for critical thinking.
Jeanette has been my loving wife for 50 years. We are the parents of adult children that include three sons and a daughter. We are the proud grandparents of and eight grandchildren. We currently live near Jacksonville, FL. in a retirement community.
I became engaged in writing suspense/thriller fiction intended for my students as an educational and entertaining platform. However, the results of those endeavors encouraged me to pursue a novel. David E. Fessenden, Literary Agent for WordWise Media Services now represents me as a writer. Elk Lake Publishing Co. is published my first novel, You Cannot Grasp the River. It has been released and is available on Amazon in print and electronic form. My second book, Summer of the Waxman, has been published in 2023. I am currently working on a sequel to the Waxman.
My fascination with cultures, beliefs, and traditions has led me to incorporating the insights into my writing. My desire is to create plausible plots with unexpected endings. I endeavor to use realistic themes that leave the reader entertained but also introspective.
The Worldview Writer,
